Patterson-Kelley Celebrates Safety Record

East Stroudsburg, PA, July 24, 2017 – Patterson-Kelley achieved a new major safety record over the weekend–4 years without a recordable incident. A feat of this magnitude is only possible when everyone makes safety a priority. Visitors, vendors, outside contractors and all P-K employees share the same mentality:

“Everyone leaves in the same condition in which they arrived.”

This mentality is emphasized through P-K’s Safety Training Program. Each week, employees receive a presentation accompanied by a quiz regarding a specific aspect of safety that is applicable to daily operations, such as “Pedestrian Safety.” Retention of the training is key and any questions that arise are greeted by not just a response, but with a lesson–something that is relatable and places the value of safety in perspective.

In addition to the weekly trainings, there is also an EH&S Committee which meets on a monthly basis. During the meeting there is an inspection of the shop to ensure that work areas remain tidy, floors are dry, electrical accesses are kept clear and that everything is running smoothly. The EH&S Committee is headed by Meghan Shambach, the Regional EH&S Manager for P-K and IKG North America, who centers the team’s philosophy on the value “Equipment is replaceable, people are not.”

P-K’s successful record is the direct result of everyone’s efforts. Congratulations, P-K Family!
